Administrative and Maintenance Hubs Supporting Northern and Provincial Operations
Winnipeg serves as the central hub for Keewatin Air’s administrative offices and heavy maintenance operations, supporting missions across Nunavut and Manitoba. This facility also hosts Shell Aviation’s Fixed Base Operator (FBO) and is home to most of the EIC family of aviation companies, which operate charter flights from this location. Our Winnipeg base ensures streamlined coordination, advanced maintenance capabilities, and comprehensive support for all regional operations.

To support specialized government transport contracts with the Province of Manitoba, Keewatin Air established a passenger terminal and AME base at Thompson Airport. Opened in August 2019, this facility was created by repurposing a construction field office and now features a passenger lounge, storage areas, washrooms, and a combined maintenance and flight coordination office, ensuring seamless service for provincial operations. In addition to specialized government transport support, this base also houses our Trauma Flight Manitoba medical team with Custom Helicopters.

Our Churchill base was established to strengthen Keewatin Air’s Nunavut operations, addressing the challenges of aviation in one of Canada’s most expansive and harsh environments. The facility features a heated hangar capable of accommodating two King Air 200 twin-engine turboprop aircraft. One King Air 200 is permanently stationed here, dedicated to 24/7 air ambulance operations, ensuring reliable emergency care for northern communities.

Core of Arctic Medevac and Regional Aviation Operations
Our Iqaluit base features a state-of-the-art 20,000 sq. ft. hangar and office complex designed to support our largest fleet in Nunavut. This facility houses and maintains four Cessna Citation 560 Ultra jets, a minimum of two King Air200 twin-engine turboprops, and a Pilatus PC-12 single-engine turboprop aircraft. With modern infrastructure and advanced capabilities, the Iqaluit base ensures rapid response and reliable medevac service across the Arctic.

Our newest medevac base, located at Igloolik Airport in Nunavut, was completed in the spring of 2019. The 650 sq. meter (6,996 sq. ft.) facility accommodates up to two aircraft and five staff members, providing a fully functional and comfortable environment for operations. Built using repurposed sea containers, the hangar features main walls, office space, sleeping quarters, common areas, and cleaning facilities—ensuring efficiency and reliability in one of Canada’s most remote regions.

Strategic Base Supporting Kitikmeot and Northern Medevac Services
As part of our Kitikmeot service package, Keewatin Air established an Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) base at Yellowknife International Airport in2017. This modern, heated hangar accommodates up to two King Air 200twin-engine turboprop aircraft and includes dedicated spaces for maintenance, flight planning, and coordination. The facility is equipped with additional tools and stores to fully support our operations. In addition to our King Air fleet, a Cessna Citation 560 Ultra Jet regularly operates from this base to meet service agreements and enhance operational flexibility.
